Great Southern Wood Preserving

When Great Southern Wood Preserving opened the new Abbeville Fiber Sawmill, it represented the largest economic investment in the history of Henry County.

A historic event like this deserved historic treatment. The grand opening video struck an emotional chord with audiences and won an Emmy in the “Photographer–Short Form” category from the Academy’s Southeast chapter in 2020.

Every great story starts with a moment.

For the launch of the Abbeville Fiber Sawmill, that moment was the delivery of the first truckload of logs ahead of the Grand Opening. We used the story of the first log delivery to build awareness of the Grand Opening, and to serve as an open invitation for the Abbeville community, influential leaders across the state, and the media to join us at the ceremony.

We finished off the project with a second video recapping the Grand Opening ceremony and drew regional media coverage of the event. Not only did the Abbeville Fiber Sawmill create 115 new jobs for the community, but it also showed GSWP’s commitment to their hometown, and we loved being able to convey their love of Abbeville with our storytelling.
